Description
Major Problems
The route section of the original route between (///soap.choice.cling) and (///human.lamps.slowly) does not exist. It's totally overgrown and inaccessible. No proper path there. This route shows shortest decent quality route to the exit of the nature reserve.
The route section between (///neat.lasts.spoon) and (///nuns.watch.dined) via (///varieties.strain.daring) is confusing as there are a number of paths and routes in the wood and it's easy to veer off onto the wrong one. A simpler route is to use the entrance at (///noble.shades.pencil) that goes via (///flood.invite.tones) this is a wide, easy to follow and obvious route to (///nuns.watch.dined)
The above also renders the climb from (///item.poetic.edges) to (///apron.means.metals) as unnecessary
Minor Point
Very short detour to (///bucket.pest.bath) which is a much safer and easier place to cross The Parade than near the traffic island as shown in original route

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

14 Nov 2021One of the best Slow Ways I've walked! Starting in Wombourne, which was had a nice pedestrian bustle about it, it wasn't a far to the countryside. To reach it, you have to cross the busy dual carriageway of the A449. Strangely, there is a low stile on the central reservation for pedestrians to cross. Footpaths lead a gentle ascent through open farmland. As you enter Baggeridge Wood you start to encounter shells of old buildings beside the well marked ways. I walked on a Saturday lunchtime and the trails were all busy with walkers. I could understand why. The rest of the walk consists of the residential streets of The Straits, Lower Gornal and London Fields, alternating with parks and nature reserves. Finally, you enter central Dudley past the Town Hall. The surfaces of this Slow Way vary with the surroundings so it's definitely one to wear walking boots for. It consists of quite a few climbs too, but the views are amazing! The views from Gornal and Eve's Hill extend right across into Worcestershire! This route is safe, direct, offroad, where it can be, varied in nature and with quite a few stops and shops in its undulating 10km. Magic!.
