Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

17 Jun 2023Walked Mitcham to Wimbledon.
It’s a 3.5 star route - the mid section along the Wandle, and especially the refreshment opportunity at Merton Abbey Mills, are excellent- but as the first reviewer points out, there is a long main road stretch up by South Wimbledon station and into Wimbledon proper, which is trafficy and could be replaced by some pleasant back ways. Nothing show stopping, I just think it can be improved!
On the plus side, it connects South Wimbledon station (Northern line) into the Slow Ways network, and links it with Wimbledon station (District line, trams and mainline rail).
All good pavements and paths, no steps; usual London pavement parking to contend with. All road crossings safe.
Definitely recommend, with a ‘could be improved’ note.

17 Dec 2022In contrast to Toomit, his was a pleasant walk. Leaving Mitcham Road after the communication tower through several residential streets, the path crosses over to axriver near Deen City Farm. A pleasant walk through trees following the Wandle Trail takes you cross the road into new development ad up to the high street and station. A further 10 minute walk would take you to Wimbledon Common.

29 Apr 2021Quite a lot of road-walking, but to avoid the busy Wimbledon Broadway & Merton Road, use some quiet alleys & green paths, as follows.
From Wimbledon Station main entrance, cross the road and follow the path opposite for 150m to a footbridge over the railway on the left. Cross the footbridge and follow the path on the other side to Dundonald Road. Cross the road and follow the path opposite to Kingswood Road. Go along this road to Kingston Road. Turn left, cross the level crossing, cross the road and turn right on the footpath alongside the tram track. Pass the tram stop and continue past a house on to another path. In 100m, turn right and immediately veer left, across another path to go along the old Merton Park - Tooting railway line. Follow this to Morden Road, turn left to find High Path on the other side of Morden Road to pick up the original route.
