Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

16 Jun 2023A stunning walking over the moors and on a clear day you can see for miles. A well marked routed.

08 Sep 2022Starting at the picturesque hamlet of White Coppice, the route passes over the Anglezarke Moors and down to Belmont via fairly well-defined paths which are easy to navigate. There’s a quite steep ascent into the hills. It’s a quiet route with quirky points of interest and the views in all directions are stunning, taking in Healey Nab, Darwen Tower and Winter Hill.

01 Sep 2022There is a pub in White Coppice & parking (if needed).
It's definitely for fitter, regular hikers (and/or off road bikers).
Not accessible for all due to the nature of the terrain, very 'off road', loose stone, fells, a style & stone steps over a wall etc.
You might miss the footpath that goes around Great Hill & instead end up going over, as this is more obvious, but it wouldn't matter to the route, and there is a footpath sign on its summit.
Personally I would go right to the bottom of Spitlers Edge (the slabs crossing the moor) to the 'car bay' and round the road to the style on the left side of Rivington Road, not far at all, as the path through the moor grass from the slabs to the style is not a path!.
There are public toilets & a pub in Belmont.
