05 Sep 2022This was a lovely route. From Woodchurch it headed straight into Arrowe Park along a tree-lined path. This became a tarmacked path across a large recreational field behind the hospital, then headed back into some woods. It crossed fields, along a well-trodden path, then a lane led to a lovely pub.
From here there was a long section through Royden Park/Thurstaston Common. This was more woodland, underlaid by classic Wirral stratified red sandstone. This is a popular area but not too busy, as it is quite spacious.
After this there was the only significant road section of this route, about half a mile along the pavement of the A540, not unpleasant though. Then it was back into the woods to weave over Caldy Hill. There were a lot of foot-worn paths here which are not always up to date on the OS Map, but the GPS route is pretty accurate. At one point there was a lovely view across the Dee estuary to North Wales.
The route wound down a couple of quiet roads, through a corner of Ashton Park and onto the Wirral Way (a former railway line) into West Kirby. Very enjoyable.

13 Mar 2022A lovely green walk through some scenic parts of the Wirral including fields and forests. Unfortunately, due to its almost entirely unpaved nature, this route would likely be difficult for anyone with a wheelchair or pram. Cycling likewise not recommended as some parts specifically prohibit bikes. Brilliant walk though if you're planning an afternoon with the dog!.

26 Nov 2021Good countryside walk. Very good for hikers and cyclists, but some areas exclude wheelchairs and buggies due to terrain and gate access.
