23 Jul 2023This is a fantastic way to walk between Westbury and Warminster. It is along well used and obvious paths, and with no danger of cattle or any other concerns. It does skirt the edge of a busy golf course, but it didn’t feel too dangerous.
I walked from Westbury to Warminster. The climb up to the ridgeway is very steep towards the end, which is why I dropped a star from my review. I met a man who told me I’d “done it the difficult way” - so I do wonder if a less steep alternative could be devised.
Even so, this is a great walk that is definitely worthy of being part of the slow ways network.

02 Feb 2022Having undertake the survey, I found the section from the water treatment works up to the Imber Trail challenging.
There is another short challenging section coming off Upton Cow Down. The route is quiet, nearly 50 % paved, with great views. There are no facilities outside of the two towns. The total ascent I recorded was 1017', or in new money 310 m...greater than on the Slow Ways data.
I recorded the length as 5.20 mi.
See photos on survey.

29 Jul 2021A very pleasant and not too long walk up onto the edge of Salisbury Plain with views across surrounding vales.
