Description

Wessev two avoids the long section of walking along the main road A25. It is longer with more altitude change, but takes in a varied wooded landscape with extensive views along the Greensand ridge. It also passes directly through Emmetts National Trust garden where there is a restaurant

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

This is a wonderful route that's a really enjoyable hike. There is one small part in Whitley Forest that takes a path through private land. I'd have given it five stars and verified it if it wasn't for that small section. I've created Wessev Four, which is very similar to this route but is slightly more accurate and removes this access issue.

This is a very enjoyable and moderately challenging walk with a couple of ‘watering holes’ along the way.
We completed the walk from Sevenoaks station to Westerham and then used a Go taxi bus to return, cost £12 for four people.
The walk has a number of small climbs some of which are steepish, both up and down. It also has steps and stiles so would not be suitable for someone with mobility issues. The paths are well maintained and if you have a reasonable level of fitness this walk should be no trouble to you.
The scenery is very pleasant without being stunning, hence our rating of 4 stars as opposed to 5 stars.
There is a very good pub about one hours walk from Sevenoaks called The Pheasant Plucker where you can have a very pleasant lunch and pint. Alternatively 45-60 minutes further on is Emmetts Gardens where the tea room serves drinks and light snacks. When you get to Westerham there are many places for refreshment whilst you await your transport back to Sevenoaks.
The walk took us about three and half hours at a steady pace including a lunchtime picnic at Emmetts Gardens.

A quieter more country route from Westerham to Sevenoaks. Slower and slightly harder to navigate than WESSEV1 or WESSEV3, but more pleasant to walk.

We walked from Westerham to Sevenoaks, using just the Inkatlas map. Lost the route around French Street (think we missed a footpath off road) but managed to rejoin around Toys Hill with no significant problems.
