24 Jul 2023I started at Virginia Water and soon had to turn back, towards the end of Trumps Mill Lane where the lane turns into a footpath, due to intimidating guard dogs (more than one). They were large, well trained, and although they started by barking at me from behind a hedge, eventually they came out in the lane itself and blocked the path. Their job was to see off anyone walking along the lane and it worked.
Clearly technology isn't enough to protect whatever the property owner wishes to protect, which is a shame as it renders a public right of way impassable imo.

21 Aug 2022The route comes to a bad start in Chertsey when it suggests to approach Bell Bridge Road from the station via Fox Lane North and a car park. However, the car park is not accessible to pedestrians as shows the attached photo. The next segment leads towards the motorway and the bridge above it and it is still acceptable according to all criteria. I would, however, not want to walk the next stretch of the route along Lyne Crossing Road again. Neither would I recommend it or the whole route to anyone else. Lyne Crossing Road mostly has no verge, cars drive fast in both directions and I would not consider it safe to walk along this road.
