Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

02 Dec 2023Lovely walk, I highly recommend it! I walked this route in the Topsham - Budleigh direction.
Fairly flat and mostly on well used paths. Very little road walking. The section of the East Devon Way after Woodbury is a real highlight. Pubs in Exton and Woodbury.
A good bus service (Monday to Saturday) to get back to Exmouth and then the train to Topsham.

21 Jun 2023Having walked the route I can say that is delighful. I walked from Topsham to Budleigh and fully enjoyed it. There is however an issue with the line drawn. This is a particular problem on Woodbury Common. The roads around 4 pines cross roads are very busy with fast and heavy traffic. Also the bridleway shown just south of 4 pines does not exist on the ground. my proposed detour avoids the busy crossroads and uses existing easily walkable tracks through this area. I have included a screenshot of this section. I think the route overall is a good one and there is no need to describe an alternative.
