Description
Similar to the excellent Thihel1, but using the road route in and out of Thirsk, which has a wide pavement from the town centre to the Green Lane bridleway about a mile out of town. It is easier to follow than the footpaths in Thirsk of Thihel1 and avoids the problems of field crossings, despite walking alongside the busy A170 for a mile, it is a safe route. The two routes are identical between "Woodcock" on Green lane and Helmsley. This is a beautiful route on great trails, including part of the Cleveland way and passing close enough to Rievaulx Abbey to encourage a visit

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
