Description
This route has been created to avoid the locked gate and high fence which block access to the original route (Strmil one) at NS56437923. Instead, the route follows a narrow lane (signposted "Strathkelvin Railway Path") which begins at NS56417935. The remainder of the route is identical to Strmil one

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

28 Nov 2023Review of Slow Ways Route Strmil two (Strathblane to Milton of Campsie)
I reviewed this route in two halves, starting from either end. However this did not affect my impression of the route as a whole. It is an excellent route which is almost entirely along a tarmacked multi-use path (with short, pavemented sections at each end). There are a couple of road crossings where care is necessary but otherwise there are no safety or access issues. Some sections feel quite isolated but I found this to be a positive aspect of the route. There are numerous opportunities to connect with nature as well as good views to both the north and south. I would recommend this route not only as a pleasant walk but as an excellent way to travel (traffic free) between the neighbouring settlements of Strathblane, Clachan of Campsie, Lennoxtown and Milton of Campsie.
