Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

12 Mar 2023I walked this on a cloudy afternoon, from Sutton to St Helier.
The first part of the route follows Sutton's pedestrianised High Street, whereafter it continues for a while along some busy roads. Especially at Benhilton (photo #2) you want to be on the east side of Angel Hill otherwise it's a tricky walk. Soon after that the route becomes pleasant going through Rosehill Park (photo #4). Crossing Reigate Avenue is easy, as there is a foot bridge, and thankfully you only need to walk along this busy road for about a minute (photo #5), before continuing through "The Daisy Field" park (photo #6). Then there is a short section of residential streets (photo #7) towards the finish at the station (photo #8), where there are also nearby shops.
It's an okay route, but I can't really see an alternative either.

21 Jan 2022 (edited 21 Jun 2022)Just over 1 km is alongside a busy road but pleasant through two parks (cycle route). Crossing Sutton Bypass is by footbridge or on the level when traffic is light. Café and toilets at Rosehill Park. Toilets in St. Nicholas Centre, Sutton High Street. Shops at St. Helier opposite Station. Bus 154 stops here.

29 Apr 2021The first half of the route is pleasant walking over parks. The second half, from Rose Hill to Sutton is along busy roads, although the last part up to Sutton station is pedestrianised. I cannot think of a better alternative though. There is a cafe in Rosehill Recreation Ground.
