Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 Jul 2023Really nice walk from the bottom end of Tunbridge Wells to Southborough. Went past some really pretty houses but was particularly nice when we got to the more wilderness bits closer to Southborough.

03 Jul 2023We did this trail backwards starting in T Wells. The start (so, the end) is mostly along streets, not very exciting and not the most direct route - but the Southborough end runs through some lovely countryside.

03 Jul 2023This route is a nice mix of meadow paths and wide streets through Tunbridge Wells and Southborough. The Southborough end is particularly beautiful.
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
At the end of Royal Chase, use the zebra crossing onto Mount Ephraim, instead of crossing onto the triangular patch of grass between Mount Ephraim and London Road.
There is one clear MISTAKE on the map. On Mount Ephraim, just beyond the house marked St Helena, take the public footpath down to the left. The map mistakenly marks a private driveway instead of the footpath. The correct footpath ends at the junction of Church Road and London Road, which is just downhill from the route marked on the map.

15 May 2023A nice generally quiet route mostly off of roads. Route was easy to follow.

03 May 2021 (edited 27 Jun 2023)This was a lovely morning’s walk into Tunbridge Wells from Southborough. It was quiet today, being a Bank Holiday, but Reynolds Lane can be extremely busy and dangerous when the school is in session, so take care. When you arrive at the corner of Culverden Park Road, you’ll see a red Southborough Society sign for Eliza Phillips (co founder of the RSPB) - this is straight ahead next to the football stadium so this is a tiny detour that’s worth having a look at. When walking along Castle Road (just after Mount Edgcumbe Road) you could take the path on the left hand side of the road as this avoids walking towards oncoming traffic in Castle Road - we would suggest this slight amendment to the route.
