18 Mar 2024Walked this route in March 2024 after a very wet winter. Its an interesting route but not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs as very muddy and a gate and stile nearer to Shipton. Some on road walking but mostly footpath and bridleway.
A shop and pub can be found in Leafield which are close to each other but a half mile detour each way. Turn right at GR 323155, located at 315153. Shop open daily Mon to Fri 7.30 to 17.00 and sat and sun 8.00 to 12.30. The pub thefoxleafield.co.uk closed Mon and Tues.
Route notes using GR:
288184 to 292185 very muddy
307189 to 308181 busy-ish Road but wide verge.
324163 to 323155 narrow road with no verge nearer to Leafield. Only 2 cars passed me on this stretch.
327152 to 354137 very muddy the whole way. Rather rutted in drier weather.
From Hailey to Witney there is a tarmac path the whole way apart from a 100 metre detour via the rugby club carpark 354119.
