Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Nov 2024This is a good Slow Way. I walked it on a cold, wet, muddy and rainy day, but despite the weather enjoyed the route. It's mostly off-road on old tracks and paths, but there are some lanes to walk down.
You can expect lots of pastures, country estates, a few woods and some good views.
Both Sherborne and Stalbridge have options for getting food. You'll find a coop supermarket in Milbourne Port, which is is in the middle section of the route.
I'd 100% walk this route again.
Looking at the map, I wonder if a route option going via Sherborne Castle and through Stourton Caundle would work as a good alternative?.

03 Jan 2022Enjoyable route. Walked Stalbridge to Sherborne direction. Paths are all there and mostly well signposted, though not entirely visible across some fields between Stalbridge and Purse Caundle - was fine to navigate with the route downloaded on a smartphone. Mostly off-road (did get quite muddy) but with short sections of concrete through villages. Crosses the A30 a couple of times which can get busy.
