Description
This route is the same as Ripell One for much of the way. The difference is that it stays on the road (pavement throughout) between Old Ripponden Road and Bowers Mill, passing through the small village of Barkisland (refreshments). Suitable for anyone wanting a more direct route (about 1km shorter) without the detour through steep fields, e.g. in wet weather.
After the climb out of Ripponden the route stays with the road through Barkisland, descending to the valley of the Black Brook. Even though it is a small narrow valley, there is a huge old mill building at the bottom of the road. At Bowers Mill there are excellent refreshments. Follow a path alongside the Black Brook to the outskirts of Elland. There is another climb and descent at Elland before arriving at a pleasant meeting point with refreshments nearby

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
