Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Jun 2022Unfortunately about half of this route have pathways that have been left overgrown, and at some places it easy to take the wrong route because some of the route markers are hidden or have been left to deteriorate. For part of the route between Bisterne and Avon Tyrell you are forced to walk alongside a busy road route acts as the main route between Christchurch and Ringwood which makes the route hazardous. Sadly Not suitable at the moment unless you are a hardy experienced walker or until this route is well maintained again.

28 Oct 2023I have done part of this route again this year and the section from Bisterne common to Kingston was either severely waterlogged or flooded to the point of no access unless you had waders. It seems that some parts of the Avon Valley Way that this route relies on are becoming increasingly inaccessible, so an alternative (and sadly) slightly longer route may be needed.
