Given that this route is in the vicinity of and indeed crosses two busy motorways, I wasn't really sure what to expect. In the end, I found it quite enjoyable.

I walked alone, today on 31st October from Redhill to Caterham after some fairly rainy days so it is starting to get quite muddy and that will get worse as the winter goes on. The route is well marked on the map and easy to follow on the ground, though I missed the path from Nutfield Marsh Road and took the footpath a bit further down the road after Peyton's Cottages. This was no big deal, and I got back on the route fairly quickly.

There are a handful of (slippery) stiles, plus kissing gates and other gates so I would imagine it would impassable for wheels. As mentioned its getting muddy now. There's a steep climb up onto the North Downs so it is quite a strenuous walk. I encountered no livestock, but stepped in the evidence of cattle.There is a brief section of road walking with no pavement along Cormonger's Lane Nutfield.

Several nice viewpoints, the nature reserve is a good place to watch the wildfowl. There is the novelty of crossing the motorways. The section of the North Downs Way has impressive views southwards. The Inn On The Pond at Nutfield is the only refreshment opportunity along the way. All in all a pleasant walk I would do again.

Both end points are connected by The No. 400 Bus which goes on to Gatwick Airport, Crawley, Three Bridges and East Grinstead.

PS: The Wireless masts are just off the route but worth a little diversion to have a look.

I created this route to solve three problems with Redcat One. There's a pleasant path through Queen's Park from Caterham and then through two private roads to Willey Farm on the North Downs Way. The path downhill is BW158. It's best to carry on down this until Spring Bottom Lane. The footpath FP159 is very steep, rutted and overgrown and there are steep steps before the road. The road walk is 176 metres but is not too busy.
Part of footpath FP173 has been diverted through the south of Nutfield Marsh quarry workings. Turn left at the gate along FP175 to the field corner then turn right along the field edge. Then there's a good surfaced path that leads to Nutfield Marsh Road near the pub (Inn on the Pond) passing Glebe Lake.
The continuation along NCN21 is fine until Cormongers Lane where there's a signposted diversion. The path at ///desire.crust.this is blocked by a deep flood although you would be OK with wellingtons. Surrey County Council tell me that the repair work is complex and won't be done soon although Sustrans are on the case.The diversion is to continue up the road about 350 metres then turn left on path FP643. This brings you back to NCN21 before Redhill.
