Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

06 Sep 2022We walked this on 1 Sep 22 at the end of the dry spell. The climb up at Whiteleaf Hill was quite steep but thereafter a nice walk through lovely Chiltern woods. Great Hampden was very picturesque. The final trudge into Prestwood was along a road but it wasn't far and was unavoidable.

03 Jun 2022A great walk! I walked this on a semi-sunny Friday afternoon, from Princess Risborough to Prestwood. It starts by climbing up the hills (a different route than Priwen 1, but just as good). There is a tiny section of road walking, before having to climb up *very* steeply into a slightly muddy path. From there on it is through lovely woodland, along a church, and through some fields. The walk through Prestwood was a little disappointing, as it's just on the side of a road.

15 Jul 2021 (edited 29 Aug 2022)I first walked this route in April 2021, describing it as “A very enjoyable walk through the Chilterns.” I walked it again today (29 August 2022) and have upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars, as it really is a very good walk. We once again started the walk in Prestwood, meaning there are more downhill than uphill sections. Parts of the April 2021 walk were rather muddy, but after a hot dry summer this time all the paths were bone dry. Scenery is varied, with plenty of wooded sections and open fields.
Today was the first stage of a long distance walk to Wolverhampton that my wife and I are doing, and I will try to post reviews of the remaining 18 Slow Ways routes as we progress towards the West Midlands.
