Description
This is a good route for walking between Princetown and Ivybrige.
The route crosses a great part of Dartmoor, complete with some brilliant views both of the moors and the coastline.
It builds on Priivy One, but following dryer and less boggy tracks.
While much of the route is on very clear tracks, in a few places (including Crane Hill above Nun's Cross Farm) the path is not at all clear and the ground is wet and boggy

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

17 Jun 2024This is a great Slow Way across the high moor - such a wild and beautiful place - I’d do it again.
The introduction of a new daily bus service between Newton Abbot and Tavistock has really opened up these high moorland routes.
I walked the route from Princetown and would agree that it’s the easier direction, gradually heading downhill. The views back to the moor and down over the South Hams and to the coast are spectacular on a clear day.
Much of the route is on solid tracks (Princetown to Nun’s Cross and then Red Lake to Ivybridge) but there are a couple of sections where the path is undefined on the ground, some boggy places and stream crossings. All very typical of the moor and if you are prepared for it you’ll be fine. I walked it in dry weather and it was no problem.
Between the leat just past Nun’s Cross Farm and Plym Ford the path is very undefined and boggy once you’re up on the top (although fabulous views). An alternative in wetter weather would be to continue south past Nun’s Cross to Eylesbarrow then slightly double-back on another bridleway to rejoin the Slow Way at Plym Ford. Although less direct and further, it is on hard track and visibly worn path and probably just as quick (I met another walker who had done just that and caught me up for a time).
As a drier weather route - let’s face it much of Dartmoor can be boggy - this is a great route.
Ivybridge has good bus and train links, which is another reason for walking this direction. Or it could be combined with other Slow Ways from Princetown which has accommodation options.

16 Dec 2022Loved walking this route - especially the views across South Devon and out to sea when coming off the moor.

24 Nov 2022This is a great Slow Way and a fun adventure across Dartmoor. I'd 100% walk it again and recommend it to others.
We walked it from Princetown to Ivybridge, which is certainly the easier way to go and with (in my opinion) better views too.. as you get to look out across South Hams and the sea as you come off the moor into Ivybridge.
Some of the route is on an old railway and on solid tracks, but do come prepared for wet ground and indistinct paths.
I walked and created this route after trying to walk Priivy One but not sticking to it as parts were so boggy.
Someone may know of a less soggy way that is slightly more direct route than this one, but if you are dressed for the moors this is a great way to go.
