Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

26 Mar 2022Review of SlowWays Route Polrut1 (Pollokshields to Rutherglen).
This is a rather noisy but nevertheless interesting route which makes good use of some urban green spaces. It begins outside Pollokshields East Railway Station where a jumble of modern buildings is squeezed in behind and between the remnants of the old railyards. The route then heads through Govanhill, crossing the lively Victoria Road, passing the important community amenity of Govanhill Park and travelling down a rather neglected stretch of Cathcart Road. Some beautiful old buildings around here include the one occupied by the Dixon Community. After crossing the busy Aitkenhead Road, the green space of Toryglen Park comes as a nice relief. The route then threads its way along the side of the Malls Mire Community Woodland and eventually emerges onto the B768. The tower of Rutherglen Town Hall up ahead guides the traveller to the end of the route.
The route is simple to follow and easy underfoot. It just suffers a bit from excess traffic noise.
