Description
This route is essentially the same as plyivy two apart from taking a slightly modified route between Lee Mill and Ivybridge to avoid as much of the walk alongside the A38 as possible. Although there is a cycle path on this section, it is very close to the fast moving traffic. Instead this revision goes through the Industrial Estate

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

15 Aug 2025Varied, mixed, authentic.. town centre, industrial park, busy road, farmland, estuary, port, National Trust estate, housing estates. It's not for everyone, but it does the job. You'd think there would be a more direct route.

30 Jul 2025This for the route Panifex!
This is a reasonable Slow Way that was fairly easy to follow. We walked it on a rainy day from Ivybridge to Plymouth and found it to be a walk of two halves. The Ivybridge Half included walking (on a path) by very busy road, going through industrial estates, passing through a very tall crop of corn and some slippery fields.
The Plymouth side of the walk largely goes through the brilliant Saltram National Trust estate and alongside the estuary before connecting with the South West Coast path.
It's certainly a usable and walkable route. I enjoyed walking it.. but I'm very aware that most people would be disappointed if they came to walk it recreationally on their day off.
We actually started off in Totnes and found Ivybridge to have everything we needed for a good feed and break.
No photos I'm afraid as water got behind my lens.
Certainly a doable connection in the network - so it gets a thumbs up from me.

28 Oct 2023This route avoids my most signficant issue with the otherwise excellent plyivy two - minimising the section along the A38.
I was unable to suggest an alternative to my slight niggle in Plympton - the path at the end of Ridge Park Road - without a revisit and a wander around. But on reflection, perhaps others won't find it a problem, and perhaps I wouldn't have done either if the heavens weren't very much open at the time.
I think this is now a 4* route - solid and reasonably direct. It as some lovely scenic sections in between the more industrial and urban parts.
