25 Jul 2023Walked from Bargoed to Pengam. A lovely walk through Bargoed Woodland Park. Easy to follow and mostly over tarmacked paths. A bit of care is needed to cross the road at the crossroads at Pengam.

23 Jun 2022June 2022. Direction Pengam to Bargoed.
An excellent walk through a superb country park. Bargoed Woodland Park really is a gem and most of this walk is within this park. I understand a lot of the park is on reclaimed industrial land, mainly colliery and spoil tip sites, but a few decades on and you can hardly tell. Although it`s a woodland park, there are lots of glades and meadows and the path alongside the River Rhymney is lovely.
Most of the route is metalled and can easily be done on wheels, although there are a couple of areas where care needs to to be taken crossing roads (Pengam crossroads and the Morrison`s petrol station roundabout on the edge of Bargoed).

12 May 2021Easy off road walking through Bargoed woodland park. Paved all the way with no obstacles. You could make it easier by walking from Bargoed Station to morrisons petrol station down the pavement and joining the route there. Then you are in the woodland park walking along the river, there are 1 or two steepish climbs but nothing too taxing.
Loses a star because crossing the road at Pengam lights is a nightmare. You get a better chance by the bus stop towards the Ystrad end but still a pain.
