I enjoyed hiking this route. It was a wet day, so the lanes were very welcome. The first 300 metre ascent from Lynmouth to Lynton and deeper into Exmoor was strenuous, but I'd do it again! Loved the stunning views of the coast and the shops in Lynton.

This is a good route and quite possibly the best way to walk between Parracombe and Lynmouth. There are some great views. It's almost entirely on lanes, all of which were very quiet.

Walking from Lynmouth to Parracombe, the route is VERY steep at the start - with 300 metres of ascent in the first 2-3km.

The Fox and Goose in Parracombe made a good refreshment stop and looks like it has some good vegan food cooking, if you like that!

We enjoyed this route while walking from Lynmouth to Ilfracombe, a journey we also made the day before via the coastal route. A circular trek between Ilfracombe - Lynmouth - Parracombe - Ilfracombe would be fun and varied.

A very pleasant walk with excellent views. Starts with a longish walk uphill to get out of Parracombe but then mostly quite flat easy walking on lanes. Quite steep walk down into Lynton but overall a lovely walk, well worth the effort.

13 May 2023 Spring

I walked this route from Parracombe to Lynmouth and really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day, the views were fantastic and the ground underfoot was easy to walk.
Leaving Parracombe there is a climb on lanes, and then on to a farm track. The track is on mostly stony ground and wasn't overgrown, and looked like it would be fine to walk year round. After this, the route is along lanes, which are sometimes lined by hedgerow, sometimes open with great views. There is one path across a field, which had evused by cattle. The route crosses the A39 twice, but visibility is good, so felt safe.
The route into Lynmouth is very steep and can be hard on the knees. The other way it would be lung busting. If you don't fancy it, you could use the cliff railway instead. If you chose the path there are lovely views of the harbour and cliffs, lots of benches to rest on, and lots of poems on display.
