Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

04 Sep 2024This is a tough but rewarding slowway route. I walked it in early September in variable conditions, which included, sun early on, then rain followed by mist. Navigation skills are required. Part of the route alongside Amicombe Brook is very marshy and difficult to pick a good path. The route is committing, there are no easy escape routes for much of the way. A warning also must be made of the need to check the MOD website for firing times. These can be found on their website https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dartmoor-firing-programme
The route crosses both Okehampton and Merryvale ranges. Starting from Okehampton the route is elatively straightforward for the first 4 miles or so until arriving at Dinger Tor. Between this tor and Rundlestone, just a mile from Princetown - walking is difficult. But extremely enjoyable. There are no refreshment opportunities on the entire route, except what you take with you!.
