Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Feb 2024Good pavements for walking but less good for cycling. There are no cycle paths on the Newcastle side, but good crossings and cycle paths on Gatehead side. Some very steep sections.
Beautiful view of the bridges and river.

13 Nov 2022This is a good route if you want to avoid steps and still want to cross the river via the quayside and swing bridge. It does what it says on the tin.

29 May 2022Similar to NEWGAT Two, but slightly rerouted to make it step-free. The approach to the river is sloped, but with ramps at all appropriate road crossings. The promenade is well-paved with great views of all the bridges.
