Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

16 Nov 2022I walked MouSil Two and passed the faulty A6 crossing which was obviously impossible, involving trespass and risk to life. I’m not sure why two of the previous three reviewers appear to have said this route is good enough, given the negative reviews.

14 Nov 2022 (edited 16 Nov 2022)As the two previous reviewers say, this route is now impassable because the direct A6 crossing is now fenced off. We walked MOUSIL 2 yesterday, and that route, which is identical to this one apart from using a safe A6 crossing through the underpass further south, is fine, and has been snailed thanks to the Leicester swarm weekend, In my view this route and MOUSYS 1 should be removed from the site.

20 Oct 2022This Slow Way needs a fail because the route shown across the A6 is not available.

27 Apr 2021The 3 star rating is because of the following:
The route mapped here is not correct when leaving The Green at Mountsorrel. The footpath on the lefthand side of the Memorial Hall has been closed off and rerouted to the right hand side and through car park of Leisure Centre.
You CANNOT cross the A6 where indicated therefore not as direct as the map shows so distance is also incorrect. Nearer 2 miles than 1.
Am uploading photo of correct map route.
I would give this route a star rating of 5 for walking however, you would find it difficult to bike in places where large stones have been used to mend path - also many stiles. Therefore also not suitable for wheelchair or pushchairs.
From previous experience the area around the canal and river is prone to some flooding during winter months.
There is a train station and small Tesco located in Sileby plus various other places to eat in both Mountsorrel and Sileby.
