Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Jun 2023Great walk. Need to be reasonably fit because of the hills. Railway Bridge at Tintern was closed when we walked this in March 2023. Spectacular way to get from Monmouth to Chepstow and vice versa. In fact you can go one direction on one route and then back by the other.

23 Jun 2023A lot of this route follows the Offas Dyke path, the riverside path along the Wye and also parts of the Wye Valley. You can create several shorter circular walks at various points. Path is very well defined and good to do in lots of different weathers but does require a degree of fitness for the inclines and declines. Views are spectacular. There are occasional short sections of walking on roads but visibility is good.

28 Dec 2022This route works perfectly and is a delight to follow. There is a temporary closure of the old railway bridge that means that one cannot access Tintern from the eastern bank of the River Wye at the moment. This work will be finalised by mid 2023. For the moment, follow the eastern side of the River Wye to Brockweir and then rejoin the route.
But, for the purposes of the requirement to review, the Slow Way linking Chepstow to Monmouth works perfectly well.
