Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Nov 2023A good route but adding to the initial review, the main wood path through Ellington Firth was impassable when walked on this occasion due to flooding so an alternative suggestion (continuing south to Stark Bank Road then east along until the route is rejoined) has been suggested. The rest of the route is good and easy to follow, with very pretty views and scenery along the river Ure, and good stops (although the tea room at Jervaulx is closed, it makes a great picnic spot). Unsuitable for wheeled travelling.
Once edited, it will be a suitable addition to the network.

23 Mar 2022A good varied walk through fields, by rivers and woods. Not very well signed at Middleham, turn left just before the closed gate in front of you.
Not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
The wood was very muddy in parts where it had been flooded. Overall a good walk, allow at least 4 hours so that breaks can be taken.
Refreshments available in Middleham, in the Coverbridge pub, Jervaugh tea rooms and in Masham.
Can be walked using public transport.
