Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

07 Aug 2024A lovely walk through farmland, easy to follow although a bit over grown in sections in summer.

23 Nov 2022An excellent, but quite tough route. Plenty of stiles and steps along the riverside walk. Great views, good pub at West Tanfield, very little road walking. The path was very muddy at the time of this review, but it was very enjoyable. Easy to follow.

15 Aug 2021Mainly well signed, some footpaths in Hackness Woods paths aren't in very good condition but can be avoided by using the estate maintained footpaths which will eventually bring you out in the right place. 1 awkward ditch (see photo 1)just before going up good steps about 1.5 miles from Masham. Pub and shop at West Tanfield.
