Description

This route leaves Marlow over the Bridge and along Bisham Road before passing through a snug kissing gate and striking south east following a public footpath across fields. Passing into the woods rising up the hill from the valley bottom, the climb is moderately strenuous through the woods up 25% incline paths to the top of the ridge, from which point there is a gentle decent towards Maidenhead. Following farm paths and more kissing gates, the route skirts the western edge of Cookham Dean Common, heading south through grass and through woods on earth paths. Before heading east, the route loops past the Golden Ball pub (though this loop can easily be omitted) and then past the entrance to the National Trust 'Brick and Tile Works' woodland area with picnic benches. Heading east, the route follows farm lanes before cutting through Furze Platt via fenced footpaths and a short section of housing to emerge onto Maidenhead's North Town Moor. Following a stream south, the route follows Maidenhead's 'Green Way' footpath for much of the remainder of the journey, ending by reaching Maidenheads town centre via an underpass and a couple of shopping streets to reach the destination at the Maudsley Memorial Garden

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.
