Description
A route designed to be walkable all year and to minimise ascent. Having said that no walk between Macclesfield and Buxton will ever be easy. The route goes to the Hollins and then down into Langley village and up to the Macclesfield Forest reservoirs. Through the Forest to Forest Chapel and then up through Chest Hollow to the main road opposite the Peak View Cafe.
Follow the path to the Cat and Fiddle Inn and on to Derbyshire Bridge and then the Macclesfield Old Road to Buxton.

Photo 5 From the Cat and Fiddle looking at Shutlingsloe and Sutton Common tower.
Note - immediately after Bottoms reservoir (2.98 to 3.06 ml) there is no pavement - however there are grass verges to step up onto if oncoming traffic.
At the Cat and Fiddle the No 58 bus stops giving access to Buxton or a retreat back to Macclesfield

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
