26 Jun 2023A pretty easy route to ride. Mainly flat, so not too much effort required. Some really lovely views to stop and admire. Plenty of places to stop and rest, cafes to grab refreshments and the day we went, not many people about. If walking I think I would have been a little bored as not much variation but still had a great day. A small section does cut through bumpy gravel and low branches and gets abit narrow so found easier to get off bike and walk that bit.

25 Jun 2023A good route to ride. Very flat, plenty of benches, several places to eat and drink and views that go on for miles. For me personally a bit boring to walk as so flat and mostly tarmac underfoot, as I prefer more variety -despite the views. A quite short part of the route does cut through some trees but that doesn't last very long. But overall a perfect route if you prefer an easy flat walk.

25 Jun 2023I intended to walk this route from Lydford, but the bus broke down, so we hired bikes and cycled it both ways instead.
The route uses The Granite Way which is a shared cycle/footpath, and is tarmac most of the way. There is a short gravel section, which could be tricky for wheelchairs, and fearing punctures and low branches, we pushed our bikes along there.
The Okehampton end has a lot of traffic noise from the A30, but you do get away from it eventually.
The route is very green, and for large parts enclosed, but when it opens up there are good views to the north, and nice scenery on the Dartmoor side. There are several places to stop for refreshments along the way.
It wasn't what I planned, but I had a very enjoyable day all the same.

22 Mar 2023This route mostly follows the Granite Way which is on the old railway line. This is a shared footpath and cycle path. I cycled this route in the Okehampton-Lydford direction. Very flat route on the edge of Dartmoor. Large path with plenty of room for cyclists and walkers. One of the highlights is going of the Meldon Viaduct with fantastic views. The Castle Inn in Lydford is also worth a pit stop.
