I walked this route at the beginning of February from Longbenton to Wallsend. Apart from the blocked section this is a pleasant route which is why I have counterintuitively given it three stars despite flagging it for access. The route is easy walking.

Starts and finishes at metro station/bus station. Also good parking nearby.
A pleasant route.
We have had quite a bit of rain recently, a few places were very muddy.
One part was inaccessible, with a padlocked gate across the marked route. Needed to make a short detour to get back onto the route. See screenshot.

Hi Anthony. Many thanks for the excellent review and photos. I walked this and felt it right to flag it for access. I will be submitting a new route using the path just a short distance further along the Coach Road which joins the original route south of Newcastle Utd Academy.
