Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

15 May 2022I walked this route from Waterhouses to Leek in May 2022. It's more of an endurance steeplechase (so many stiles!). It starts well enough, on a wide path through a meadow from the centre of Waterhouses. Approaching Waterfall, the grass gets longer and the footpath is more difficult to identify. It gets easier through Waterfall going through country lanes but soon enough it's into footpaths that appear not to have been walked for years, knee-high grass, nettles and brooks and ditches which can only be navigated by jumping over. There is a godawful section of Hamps Way between Ford and Onecote where there is little marking, bogs, streams and fences and I got completely lost there. It didn't get much better on the other side of Onecote either. DEFINITELY not walking this again, and don't recommend you try unless you are a sucker for punishment. All photos I have included are of the actual footpaths. One plus, if you like peace and quiet: you will not meet a single soul.
