Much of route is on a pathless busy road.

This route follows the old military road between Dumbarton and Stirling. About 30% of it is on paths and farm tracks, 30% along pavements and 40% on roads with no pavements. Most of these roads are fairly quiet, but there is a 1km section along the busy A811.

It is a practicable way of walking from Kippen to Stirling, but is rather too much along roads to be really enjoyable. The best part is from Kippen to Gargunnock.

There are good scenic views of the hills to the north.

A good route but only from Kippen to Gargunnock. Beyond that, a section runs on the very busy and fast A811 which is not suitable for pedestrians. To the east of Kippen, beyond Trough Wood, walkers will cross a field which often contains cattle. Not great for dog walkers.
