Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

06 Feb 2022I walked this route at the end of October. The day got increasingly wet as I hiked towards Kington, but it was an enjoyable route. I would love to walk this route again in the summer when the fields are full of crops and the orchards are at their best.
Starting in Leominster there were a couple of tricky moments. A lack of signage and empty fields made navigating across the fields between the A44 and Highfield a little tricky.
Then, at Newtown, the public right of way coming off Ivington Road did not appear accessible (it's behind some deep hedges), but there is a path immediately to the south that runs alongside the hedge-line to the open access land. I had to climb over a locked gate to access the path.
There are stiles, locked gates, narrow bridges, muddy paths (after rain), short sections that are heavily overgrown and orchards that block the right of way in places. For me this was all good fun, but for others these obstacles might be barriers.
There was a fair amount of quiet lane walking on this route, but with it being so wet, I was pleased for the firm ground.
My sense is that someone might be able to create an even better route, but this is a good Slow Ways route and a great way to get between Leominster and Kington, complete with pubs for coffee/food/drinks after 11km and 22km, which is perfect for a 28km route.
