Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

18 Feb 2025An enjoyable route, especially the three parks. I started at Ilford (toilets in the Exchange Centre and just after Griggs Approach. Pleasant lake in South Park and toilets by the north entrance. In the other parks It's possible to cut off corners by walking across the grass. All the main road crossings have pedestrian crossings or lights. In Parsloes Park it's easy to make a straight line from the Sports Centre Car Park to the corner of Meadow Road. Shops in Heathway and toilets in Dagenham Library (corner of Church Elm Lane).

26 Jan 2025I walked this from Ilford to Dagenham on a bright and sunny day in winter.
From Ilford station, the route starts alongside their high street (photo #1), and then a section along a busy road (photo #2). Soon it turns away from that and mainly follows residential roads (photo #5, #6). The highlights are the parks. First "South Park" with its lake and birds (photo #3, #4). Crossing Longbridge Road took a little effort. Then you were soon in Mayesbrook Park (photo #8, #9). A little more residential pavement walking (photo #10, #11) then gets you to Parsloes Park (photo #12, #13, #14), nearly all the way to the busy finish at Dagenham Heathway.
It's a good urban route, the busy roads in Ilford make it drop a star.
