Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 Aug 2023Heckfield to Yateley 1 (Hecyat 1) review.
An excellent walk through a conifer plantation, followed by a stretch of the Blackwater Valley Path.
This Slow Way does not have the best of starts. The walk between Heckfield and the entrance to Bramshill Plantation includes the Bramshill Road. This is a busy road with a narrow verge, so required constant vigilance (Photo 1).
The attractive Bramshill Plantation includes conifer woodland, heath, and ponds. The Slow Way keeps to the public right of way. This was overgrown in places and I expect it gets rather muddy (Photos 2 & 3). As this is access land, there are plenty of alternative routes across the plantation.
The Slow Way then joins the Blackwater Valley Path, which it follows almost all the way into Yateley (Photo 4). There is a half-way break point at the friendly Tally Ho pub in Eversley.
The route takes a well-maintained path, first through farmland, and then between the River Blackwater and flooded gravel pits (Photos 5 & 6). There are regular information boards detailing the nature reserves.
Finally, the Slow Way crosses the river and takes a footpath (Photo 7), and an urban walk, into Yateley.
