Description
A route that is reasonably direct, leaving Guildford across the high land of Pewley Down (with good views) before gradually descending and skirting to the north of St Martha’s Hill (a diversion up to the church and its views is possible). It passes through the attractive village of Shere (for food, drink, buses and toilets) before arriving in Gomshall. Apart from the initial ascent within Guildford there are no steep hills. Surfaces should be good for reasonably fit walkers, with much on sandy paths, but not for wheels. There are some stiles to the west of Shere. If starting from Guildford find the clock above the cobbled High Street, and walk through the large arch opposite to ascend Pewley Hill

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
