Description
A quieter alternative which gives some respite from the noisy road walking on many of the adjacent Slow Ways routes. A third is off road, along a waterside pathway opposite grazing ponies in Grays and through a ribbon park on the edge of Tilbury opposite the Amazon distribution centre. Public access to neither is apparent from OS or Thurrock Council maps but they are either publicly owned or have allowed permissive access and have deliberate fencing gaps to prove it.
The Grays end is the same as GraTil 1, using fairly quiet residential roads, but this route keeps heading east and comes out onto the bank of a stream (land drain - this area is all former marsh or fenland). After nearly 1km it comes out onto the shared path/cycleway beside the HGV laden A1089 heading towards the docks. Traffic lights help to navigate around the Asda Roundabout and the cycleway comes out opposite the Amazon ribbon park entrance. Walking/cycling signs (and GraTil 1) would send you directly along busy Dock Road straight to Tilbury Town station, but using the park and access-only residential roads is more peaceful and adds only 400 metres.
It is not as accessible as GraTil 1. There's a short sharp slope down to the waterside path, the unmade surfaces may be muddy. The eastern end is a little less well used and may have ponies on the path

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
