06 Dec 2023I walked this in winter from Four Lane Ends to Gosforth. It was a fully accessible route along urban streets with a section on shared cycleway. it was good to get away from traffic noise on the cycleway. A good straightforward route.

06 Jul 2021This short urban route joins up the hub of Gosforth with the Four Lane Ends interchange in Longbenton. In Gosforth and Longbenton there are many facilities and refreshments including toilets.
The route is fully surfaced. Leaving from Gosforth, Gosforth Central Park is worth exploring. With picnic tables, benches, bbq area and many wild areas and planted displays. Leaving the park the route stays on a roadside path towards South Gosforth metro station. St Nicholas s churchyard on the left before the metro station is again worth a visit for wildlife and history.
Crossing over the metro line the roadside path descends down an incline past a collection of shops and cafes. Crossing over a busy roundabout using the pedestrian crossings we pass over the Ouseburn River and then ascend over another crossing before bearing left onto a surfaced cycle path leading to Longbenton (the old Coxlodge wagon way)
For the next 1500 metres we continue straight along the wagonway. There are a number of wide barriers here to control bike traffic. HMRC offices appear on the right before reaching Benton Road.
Bear left on the path alongside Benton Road. Slightly ascending before reaching a crossroads and on the other side Four Lanes End Interchange.
