I walked GarLon Two and could see most of GarLon One from it. I have walked the road section near Garstang in the past, and agree that it feels a bit busy with blind bends and no verge.
The stile into a ditch and electric fence, photographed by Burnroyd, looked unsafe, although I didn't see it myself, as I was on the alternative route. I could see the electric fences in the distance, which have been described by Burnroyd. They were still present 10 months later. Consequently I would deem this route unsafe, and recommend GarLon Two instead.

A reasonably enjoyable and direct route across agricultural land and country lanes, with associated stile crossings of varying quality and the need for extra traffic vigilance on some short road sections. Diversions due to agricultural activities, and poor signage in places, requires some micro-navigational skills to be employed. Long grass/crop encroachment at certain times may impede walking and/or result in wet feet and legs. There are limited facilities between Garstang and Longridge, but refreshments may be available (subject to opening times) at a couple of pubs on or close to the route and there are a handful of good farm shops with minor diversion from the route. The potentially uncomfortable road-walking section on the outskirts of Garstang could be avoided by following the canal towpath from either Dimples Bridge, or even closer to the starting point, to Catterall Basin.

Thanks Mary. I haven't walked your route, so I'm not in a position to review it, although I may get chance at some stage. However, I've closely compared the two routes and can see what you've done - which all makes sense from my recollections.
