Description
This route is considerably more direct than Fulcla One, while still avoiding the busy and polluted A217 Wandsworth Bridge Road (apart from the bridge itself). There are some green spaces, and a short stretch along the river, but mostly this is the route to take if you want to get from Fulham to Clapham in a straightforward way with your lungs reasonably intact at the end.
There are a few steps at Wandsworth Bridge (South side); ramp access is available by walking on a little further if you want to avoid steps

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

21 Nov 2024I walked from Clapham Junction to Fulham.
Whilst I also reviewed and enjoyed Fulcla one - on balance I have to say I prefer this route . This is despite less time walking long the Thames!
It is quieter and more direct.
Apart from crossing a moderately busy Kings Road, all the rest of the walking is along quiet residential streets or parks.
Time just sped by on this enjoyable walk.

12 Nov 2024This route was great with some notable green spots (William Parnell Park and Eel Brook Common) as well as the Thames views. Apart from the bridge (which is now clear of works) the roads were quiet. Fulham Broadway shopping centre has public toilets and a Sainsbury's store.

09 Dec 2021I made this route as an alternative to Fulcla One, which is very indirect. The challenge is that the most direct route would follow a busy polluted road, so I have searched out a less direct but much more pleasant route which I think now works well.
I set off late on a winter afternoon and was pleased to find it's a 24/7 route with lighting throughout. I walked from Clapham Junction to Fulham.
The residential streets near Clapham Junction have good pavements. There is a quiet underpass under the railway lines, and a small park area. More quiet roads lead to a 21st century riverside development, expect plenty of joggers.
There are a few steps up to Wandsworth Bridge, however there is a ramped approach a few metres further along the path if required.
The bridge is being worked on, so at the moment the pavement is quite narrow and there is no view. But soon I reached the north bank of the Thames and turned off the main road.
(A very direct route would continue along the main road, only for people with robust lungs who don't mind the traffic, I'm out on both counts).
Go past an enormous Sainsburys, which has a cafe, then turn off to residential streets and a small green park. Eventually I reached the Kings Road and found a safe crossing point to Eel Brook common. Finally there are a few more quiet streets before arriving at Fulham Broadway.
All in all I am pleased with this route, which fills the gap for a more direct Slow Way option in a very acceptable way. I'd definitely go this way again. I've given 4 stars, but I think when Wandsworth Bridge gets its view back it may be a 5 star route.
