Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

02 Dec 2024I walked this route from Fulham Broadway to Clapham Junction.
A nice and easy walk, taking you around the picturesque Chelsea Harbour where you can dream of owning that expensive boat.
The walk then follows the north side of the Thames, on the Riverside walk then eventually over Wandsworth Bridge. On way, you might be lucky enough to witness the excitement of a helicopter taking off or landing at the London Heliport.
As you get nearer to Clapham junction station the roads get a little busier and the environment a bit noisier; but it’s not that long a section, and overall it’s a very easy walk.

02 Dec 2024From Fulham Broadway, the path plunged into the Chelsea Harbour District. There are lots of apartments —— and plenty of modern art studios you could be diverted into very easily.
Around the “Harbour” itself, there plenty of big yachts moored up. It’s a good place to contemplate how much you might have failed in life, or congratulate yourself on not wasting money on a boat just sitting in the middle of London.
You emerge onto the riverfront opposite Chelsea River Bridge with the beautiful spire of a small church across the Thames to your left.
Over Wandsworth Bridge, you turn left on the other bank of the Thames and down the Thames path through Wandsworth Reach. Lots of modern apartments here, with beautiful views of the river. The big bend of the river here gives great views back to Chelsea River Bridge.
Coming to Acorn Road, under a railway bridge, you roll up the hill and eventually find your way to Clapham Junction station.
An interesting route across the river and asking both its banks with some good sights along the way.

10 Dec 2021I found this to be a very indirect route, and I'm not convinced the diversion out to Chelsea Harbour is worthwhile, which is why I've dropped the star rating to 3. It is however an interesting and photogenic leisure walk, taking in Chelsea Football ground, Kings Road/Lots Road area, Chelsea Harbour, and a fair amount of riverside walking both north and south banks.
There was a small diversion just before Wandsworth Bridge where the riverside path is closed temporarily due to development, but it is well signposted.
If you want a more direct route between Fulham and Clapham Junction I recommend Fulcla Two.
