Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Aug 2023This would be a good slowways route if it was accessible throughout. It mostly leads along a military shooting range where there is a fence with a barbed wire on one side. The approach to Frimley is through a wooded area with many crisscrossing footpaths so it doesn't matter too much if walkers don't hit the right one.
The critical spot which makes this route unacceptable is approx. 2 km behind Lightwater - see the attached photo. The heathland surrounding the path there disappears and there is only boggy, waterlogged land with no through route. I had to come back and join a wide unpaved track that led closer to the main road from Lightwater to Frimley. The rest is more or less ok. I'll be drawing another version of the route which avoids the swampy area.
