Description

A very direct route through a small park and along quiet residential roads, at least once you are past the Elmers End Green roundabout. There’s a small parade of shops, etc and buses where it briefly joins Croydon Road. The Croydon Road Recreation Ground has a lot of mistletoe as well as a “cafeteria” and toilets. From early 2024 the Edwardian (aka Bowie) Bandstand should be released from the refurbishment scaffold. The streets between the Rec and Beckenham Junction Station are all quiet, but you do cross Beckenham High Street, it is very busy but if you get to the station that way instead you would pass many shops, places to eat and bus stops

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.

A pleasant short route using some back streets and a recreation ground. A large Tesco at Elmers End and railway station and tramstop. Some interesting buildings. Plenty of shops in Beckenham High Street. Railway Station and Tramstop at Beckenham Junction.

Direct, mostly very quiet given the traffic on the bigger roads. A nice little park I'd never visited before with a few interesting stories and an large mistletoe colony. If I didn't like it I wouldn't have uploaded it ;).

I hope to do this soon by tacking it onto the route from New Addington.
