Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

03 Sep 2021Direct and enjoyable route. I walked from Ealing to Acton.
Yes, there's a lot of main road, but the route makes the best of the Ealing Common part, although the route line may be a bit optimistic about finding a good path across the common between the North Circular and Ealing Common station. But it can be done if, like me, you want to stay off the pavement as much as possible.
From Ealing Common station the road may be busy, but the pavement is wide and all the way are interesting local shops - I especially enjoyed the various greengrocers and the Lebanese bakery - so there is plenty to see.
The real treat for me - and what elevates this route to a 5 star - is the street market at King Street in Acton. This is the London I love, diverse street life. There are some chain shops and gentrification creeping in but this area is still predominantly local independents with a nice community feel. 3 cheers!
And on to Acton Central station, where the meeting point is by the entrance to the Richmond platform.
All road crossings are safe and the route has no flights of steps.

15 Jul 2021It's easy to walk, on the pavement. The bit along Ealing Common is pleasant, but the rest is along Uxbridge Road is a little boring. I had some issues navigating through the market at Acton's King Street, but only because there was a market on.

25 Apr 2021Most of the route is along a reasonably major road, so it's not the most scenic route, but there is wide pavement throughout so no issue with safety. Possibly a nicer route available through some of the back-roads, but this is definitely the most direct route available.
