Help connect Acton
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Acton’s Slow Ways.

Following the route through Acton Park exactly takes you across the grass including through a muddy puddle....

- tree roots at Ravenscourt Park path can be a trip hazard...
GoodGym Kash
A fairly flat route, mostly on pavements so limited potential for muddy sections! Route through Acton Park does direct over the grass, but the path runs adjacent, so could be used as alternative. Some narrow/uneven sections where tree routes have broken up the pavement, but generally ok to walk....

Take note of Cristie’s first comment/review - there’s no access to the Old Oak Common meeting point at present, but I think the route should stand as it is for the time being despite its obvious limitations....
Jane Taylor
Short, functional route mostly through suburban streets, with the final section in the run-in to Old Oak Common itself having major construction (for the Elizabeth Line depot, and HS2). Another reviewer has noted, but it bears repeating, that this node will become accessible again once the works are complete. And in the meantime, its a small treat for those (like me) who like their engineering....
Martin McGovern
It is predominantly along a main road, but there aren't too many side roads to cross, and the local council have done a good job with drop kerbs. And there are a few older buildings that stand out among the more everyday ones....
Martin McGovern
It's a decent route that makes the most of local green spaces and doesn't have any narrow places or awkward road crossings. I would certainly recommend it (although note from a previous reviewer that it goes through parks that aren't open at night)...
Mockymock
First proper metropolitan route for this mainly rural flāneur, and blimey you like 'em flat and short...Does the business though with a couple of parks and long streets of identical small mansions. I think it could be wheeled all the way....
Steve_Roser
Good urban route from Acton Central station to Chiswick (Turnham Green station)....
Jane Taylor
The route passes through 3 parks (they do close overnight so this isn't a 24 hour route), has several tempting refreshment stops, is reasonably direct, and accurately drawn so no dangerous road crossings. A top urban Slow Way - Full marks from me....
Jane Taylor
Quick and direct route - nearly all through residential areas, so not especially interesting, but safe and accessible. Old Oak Common is just a building site currently, so harder to judge the final section....
jamiekirk
Yes, there's a lot of main road, but the route makes the best of the Ealing Common part, although the route line may be a bit optimistic about finding a good path across the common between the North Circular and Ealing Common station. The real treat for me - and what elevates this route to a 5 star - is the street market at King Street in Acton....

It's a good way to go between places, but not interesting to walk along....
Derick Rethans
I had some issues navigating through the market at Acton's King Street, but only because there was a market on....

The Slow Ways network is future proofed and this Slow Ways node will be ready in 2026....

However, this does make it easy to navigate and mean that there are plenty of food and drink options along the way....
jamiekirk
Most of the route is along a reasonably major road, so it's not the most scenic route, but there is wide pavement throughout so no issue with safety. Possibly a nicer route available through some of the back-roads, but this is definitely the most direct route available....
