Description

A meandering walk that takes you through towns, villages woodland and meadow. Starting in Dorking and finishing at the memorial hall in Capel the walk does cross the A24 twice, both times at safe visible points, and there is the potential of cattle along the way. The route finishes with the reward of an ice cream, cold drink or even a Sunday Roast

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

This is a great route for those wanting a taste of of Surrey Hills without the crowds of Box or Leith Hill. Suitable for all levels of walker - further more it finishes with a pub at the end and a bus back to the beginning.

A great summers morning walk with a lovely group. We decided to park at the leisure centre as it was free and wonder up to the start. Some lovely scenery along the way and a view point to tick off and to make us discuss what we were seeing in the distance (we agreed it was Ranmore common ). The route crossed the A24 a couple of times, both points with good visibility both ways. There is also a pedestrian crossing over the railway but again good visibility. We finished at the memorial hall and opted for a refreshing drink in the local pub. Sunday bus service is every 2 hours so you do need to time it well but during the week you also have the train.

A great walk to see the town and countryside views of Dorking and Capel.

Some overgrown footpaths and a field with some inquisitive calves to be aware of but nothing to diminish the enjoyment of the walk!

On the route you’ll walk on pavements, through alleyways, footpaths, commons, fields and railway crossings as well as over the A24.

Great way to see more of the Surrey countryside and villages!.
