03 Jul 2024Decent, some nice little managed woodlands on the way. A short stretch on the road. Not the most pleasant on the way into Burgess Hill, but can't be helped.

28 Dec 2023Rather muddy in places but to be expected at the end of December when I walked this. Easy walk to follow and well signposted along a mixture of bridleway and footpath, GPX file is accurate. As another reviewer has said there is a short section of road walking along an A road, there is a verge to stand on while cars pass though.
A few stiles and a handful of gates along the route.
Looks like more sections of the walk will have new housing estates directly next to it in the new year or so.
Would walk this again but during the summer but would check the Cuckfield pub opening times first.
It is also easy to extend the walk to Haywards Heath for trains back to Burgess Hill (as I did) or to/from London/Brighton.

29 Oct 2022A bit of a slog through Burgess Hill to start with but once you hit the countryside, it’s a lovely route. Quite muddy in places after rain so perhaps more of a summer route.
There is one fast road section with no path that wouldn’t be great for families, but it only lasts 150m. After that the route into Cuckfield (I did this route back to front) is really charming.
Cuckfield itself is a quaint little village with a few shops and pubs.

22 May 2021Walked from Burgess Hill to Cuckfield on 21st May 2021. Once away from the construction work at Freeks Lane this is an attractive route showcasing the undervalued countryside where the flatter Low Weald meets southernmost forest ridge of the High Weald. As you ascend the ridge, the views southwards to the South Downs are particularly rewarding. The short section along South Street, Cuckfield uses narrow or non-existent pavements but can be easily avoided by taking the path due south through the churchyard from Church Street.
The walk starts or ends at Holy Trinity church, Cuckfield - well worth a visit.
The path is well way-marked on the ground and the downloaded route is accurately marked.
